Celebrating Exercise Right Week

Exercise Right Week

By now, you know that exercise plays an essential role in healthy living. But did you know how you exercise plays an important part as well? Exercise Right Week is a national campaign created by (ESSA), which calls for Australians to exercise not only more frequently but also properly. In this blog post, Dr. V. Kuzinkovas shares more information on the campaign, as well as tips on how to improve your fitness regimen.

About Exercise Right Week

Exercise Right Week is based on the idea that each person is unique and, therefore, there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach to exercise. Before choosing a fitness regimen, consider the following:

Find the right place. Where you exercise can affect how well you exercise, not to mention how much you enjoy exercise. Are you not a fan of the gym and fancy equipment? Would you rather swim than hike? Is your mobility limited and as a result you prefer to take a leisurely walk through the park? These are just some of the questions you should consider before deciding on a certain form of exercise. Make sure you choose an exercise regimen that suits your abilities and is not overly strenuous where you risk hurting yourself. Don’t be afraid to try a few sports or exercises before choosing your regimen. If you get bored easily, change up your exercise routine from time to time. You can also check out our posts on some of the best hiking trails in Sydney and other outdoor activities to enjoy in Sydney throughout your weight loss journey.

Determine the right time to exercise. Do you have a health condition or are you on certain medication? If so, the time of day (or night) can have an impact as to when it is safe or most effective to exercise. Other factors to take into consideration are your location and the type of exercise. For instance, exercising midday outside — i.e., underneath the hot sun — may do more harm than good for a lot of people.

Consult the right professional. An exercise physiologist can help you determine where, when and how it is most safe and effective for you to exercise. Find a professional that has the appropriate education needed to evaluate your unique traits, such as a health condition. Searching through ESSA’s website to find an accredited exercise physiologist is a good start.
