Gain Back Your Life!
Fitting Exercise Into Your Busy Everyday Life
Exercise is a key part of losing weight and keeping it off long-term. But exercise is often the first thing to fall to the wayside when your schedule fills up. Here, Dr. V. Kuzinkovas offers his best tips for fitting exercise into your routine, no matter how busy you are!
Opt for an Exercise Routine You Can Do Anywhere
One of the best ways to fit exercise into your day is by picking a routine you can do anywhere. Exercises like high-intensity interval training or bodyweight exercises like squats or push-ups are easy to do at home, at the office (with the door closed) or in a hotel room. You don’t need special equipment or machines to see the benefits of exercise!
Book a Fitness Class
Fitness classes are an efficient way to get exercise into your day. Instead of wasting time at the gym waiting for a machine or free weights, you can head to a scheduled class, get your workout in and leave right on time. Signing up for a class (which may have a cancellation fee) is also a good way to hold yourself accountable during a busy day.
Wake Up a Little Earlier
If your daily schedule is completely booked, consider waking up 30 minutes to an hour earlier to go for a quick run or hit the gym. Getting your workout done right away leaves you the rest of the day to focus on work and your family.
Do What You Enjoy
When you enjoy your exercise routine, you are more likely to make time for it. Whether it’s weight training, Pilates or cycling, choose a workout that you will look forward to (not one you will make excuses to avoid).
Know that Something Is Better than Nothing
Not every workout needs to last an hour — or even half an hour! A quick 10-minute workout is better than nothing. Look for short spurts of time throughout your day to squeeze in some bodyweight exercises or a brisk walk around the office.
